Block a security device

You can place a Block on a security device:

  • Online using the Bank of Ireland app you have registered on a 2nd device. Select the Bank of Ireland app channel below for steps
  • Online using 365 online*. You will need another security device as part the blocking process. Select the 365 online channel below for steps
  • By Phone on numbers below. This option should be used in cases of emergency, or if you have only one security device.

A Block will prevent a device being used to log into your online account until you Unblock the device.

Please note
You can only place a Block on a device for your own online account.

  • You are not able to Block a device using the same device.
  • When you place a Block on a device that another person uses to access their online account, the Block will only apply to your own online account. The other person's online account will not be blocked on the same device. They will need to follow the steps below.
  • When you place a Block on a device you use to access different online account types, such as your personal and business account, the Block will only apply to one account type. For example a Block you place on your online personal account will not block your online business accounts on the same device. You must follow the same steps below for both account types.

1. Log into the Bank of Ireland app
2. Tap the Profile icon at the top right of the screen
3. Tap 'My security devices'
4. Select the device you wish to block
5. On the next screen select to 'Block device'
6. Confirm to 'Block device' on pop-up
7. Enter 3 digits of your PIN then Swipe right to authenticate
You will receive a confirmation that your device has been blocked.

1. Log into 365 online
2. Click on the 'Profile' icon at the top of the screen
3. Click 'My security devices'
4. Select the device you wish to block

  • If you have only one security device you will need to call us on a number listed below
5. On the next screen select to 'Block device'
6. Confirm to 'Block device' on pop-up
7. Enter 3 digits of your PIN and click confirm
A notification will be sent to the security device quoted on screen


On your security device
8. On the security device open the notification
9. Swipe right to authenticate. An Approved screen will display on your device
You will receive a confirmation on Bank of Ireland that your device has been blocked.
