Remove a security device

You can Remove a security device:

  • Online using the Bank of Ireland app* you have registered on a 2nd device. Select the Bank of Ireland app channel below for steps.
  • Online using 365 online*. You will need another security device as part of the Removal process. Select the 365 online channel below for steps.
  • By Phone on numbers below. This option should be used in cases of emergency, or if you have only one security device.
  • Once you Remove a device it cannot be used to log into your online account. To access your online account again using this device you must complete the setup process in full.

    Please note
    You can only Remove a device for your own online account.

    • When you Remove a device that another person uses to access their online account, this will only Remove your own online account. The other person's online account will remain registered on the same device. They will need to follow the steps below to Remove their own account if required.
    • When you Remove a device you use to access different online account types, such as your personal and business account, this will only Remove one account type. For example if you Remove your online personal account. Your online business accounts will remain registered on the same device. You must follow the same steps below for both account types if required.
      • 1. Log into the Bank of Ireland app
        2. Tap the Profile icon at the top right of the screen
        3. Tap 'My security devices'
        4. Select the device you wish to Remove
        5. On the next screen select to 'Remove device'
        6. Confirm to 'Remove device' on pop-up
        7. Enter 3 digits of your PIN then Swipe right to authenticate
        You will receive a confirmation that your device has been blocked.

        1. Log into 365 online
        2. Click on the 'Profile' icon at the top of the screen
        3. Click 'My security devices'
        4. Select the device you wish to Remove
        5. On the next screen select to 'Remove device'
        6. Confirm to 'Remove device' on pop-up
        7. Enter 3 digits of your PIN and click confirm,
        A notification will be sent to the security device quoted on screen. This cannot be the same device you are currently Removing

        On your security device
        8. On the security device open the notification
        9. Swipe right to authenticate. An Approved screen will display on your device
        You will receive a confirmation on Bank of Ireland that your device has been Removed.
