I have an Australian Dollar Cheque, can I lodge this to my Bank of Ireland Account and how long will this take to clear?

Yes, you can lodge Australian Dollar Cheques over the counter in any Bank of Ireland branch. It will then be sent to the payers bank for approval.

This process can take up to 8 weeks from the date that you lodge the cheque with us. Only after the payer’s bank approves the payment will the value of the cheque appear in your account for use by you, and, however as fees and charges may be applied by the payer’s bank this could which will mean that you do not receive the full value of the cheque. Bank of Ireland are unable to advise what amount the payer’s banks might charge.

Alternatively, you can ask the payer to transfer the funds electronically to you, instead, by giving them with your account details. This way, you will receive the funds directly into your account.
