What is Strong Customer Authentication?

Strong Customer Authentication or SCA is an extra layer of security we’ve added to help make online card payments safer. It works through your mobile phone or tablet. To use it, you must download the latest version of the BoI app and make sure we have an up-to-date mobile phone number for you. When shopping online with your credit card, you will need to use the Bank of Ireland app for some of the purchases you make. This is to confirm that it is really you who is making the payment.

If you already have a personal 365 online profile, please add this credit card to it. You can do this through the app on your mobile device or 365 online on your browser, under the ‘Services’ section.

If you have an existing personal 365 online profile and you have forgotten your user ID? Text USER to 50365 and we will send it to you.
