As the largest retail bank in Ireland and the leading provider of financial products and services, Bank of Ireland today, (Friday, 4th April 2008) is delighted to announce that it will shortly open a new branch in Northern Cross. This new branch will be located on the Malahide Road at Northern Cross among a range of retail and residential units and is expected to open for business in May when fit out is complete.

Commenting on the announcement, Cyril Macken, Head of Branches – Dublin North, Bank of Ireland, said: “This is a major investment by Bank of Ireland in this rapidly developing community in North Dublin and another milestone for our branch transformation project which is delivering state-of-the-art branches to meet the changing needs of today’customer.

This new branch is evidence of our commitment to actively deliver personal and business banking services to new and emerging communities across the country. We view the establishment of this new modern branch as an investment in the future of Northern Cross and we look forward to serving new and existing customers in this locality for many years to come.

Northern Cross is one of the fastest growing areas in North Dublin. The new branch location and the decision to provide a comprehensive range of personal and business banking services is as a result of population growth and major residential and commercial development in the area in recent years. The branch interior and business banking offices will be spread over two floors comprising 6,000 sq. ft. and will be modelled on the Bank’s new retail design concept that includes customer service areas, a modern self-service section and discreet financial advice consultancies for personal and business customers. Bob Hamilton has been appointed Commercial Branch Manager prior to which he was Commercial Branch Manager at Dublin Airport.

Commenting on the announcement, Barry O’Loghlen, Regional Business Manager, Dublin North, Bank of Ireland, said: “This new branch also shows Bank of Ireland’s commitment to the growing business community in the area and our Northern Cross team of qualified business bankers will soon be in place to offer full support and advice to new and existing businesses. Our proposition includes the most comprehensive Business Start-Up package that features a business current account with a range of banking services free of charge for two years and a suite of internal and external offers specifically tailored for the new enterprise.

Bank of Ireland provides over 100 loans daily to the SME sector and currently approves in excess of 87% of all small business lending applications, with half of all applications getting an immediate decision in the branch, and the other half within 24 hours. In addition, Bank of Ireland is the only financial institution that will lend up to €25,000 to these companies without security,” he concluded.
