Bank of Ireland Funds New Multi Million 90 Bed Nursing Home in Bray
McMahon Healthcare Ltd, a company specialised in nursing home care has secured a multi million funding deal from Bank of Ireland for the construction of a new state of the art 91 bed nursing home, Cairnhill in Bray, Co. Wicklow.
Cairnhill Bray is being constructed by McMahon Healthcare Ltd., a family run enterprise, which has been in the nursing home business since 1987. The family currently owns and manages Cairnhill, a successful 42 bed nursing home in Foxrock. The new facility in Cairnhill Bray will open in May 2013.
According to Denis Bergin, Regional Business Manager Dublin, Bank of Ireland Business Banking: “We are delighted to support the expansion of McMahon Healthcare. Economic recovery starts locally and this company will provide direct employment for 110 people when complete, boosting the local economy through the demand for ancillary services which go hand in hand with the development of a project of this size.”
Located in a tranquil setting in the Herbert Road area of the town, overlooking Bray Head and the Sugarloaf mountains, the nursing home has been designed to comply with the highest industry standards for sustainable building. Innovative systems include solar hot water panels to generate the heating for the domestic hot water system, heat recovery ventilation systems throughout the building and a rain water harvesting system which will serve the toilets and laundry rooms. There are currently 80 people employed in the construction process with contractors, design and construction teams drawn from the local area.
In 2013, Bray will see the opening of a unique home from home environment, for long term care of the elderly, designed around their individualised needs of support, while maximising their independence in beautiful surroundings. It will provide residents with continuous opportunities for social interaction, recreation and enhanced quality of life through specifically designed events and activities programmes. Resident’s health care will be maximised by a highly skilled team of health professionals. The nursing home will use state of the art technology to ensure the active monitoring and management of the care provided.
Cairnhill Bray is currently being developed to provide residents with unprecedented levels of care, support and comfort. Not surprisingly, the new centre is also on track to be the first nursing home in Ireland to be accredited by the Joint Commission International, the highest demonstration of care excellence. To ensure this level of excellence, the care systems are being developed in conjunction with Health Care Informed (HCI), the Galway-based international quality improvement organisation.
