Bank of Ireland to Relocate its Monaghan Branch

Bank of Ireland has announced that it will relocate its existing branch in Monaghan town, moving from its current location on Church Square to a newly refurbished property nearby at The Diamond. The new branch will provide customers with a larger, brighter, and more modern space to carry out all their banking needs, with improved wheelchair access.

The new branch will also have an upgraded ATM fleet (one external, two internal), with greater cash processing capacity and cutting energy use by more than half. The ATMs can be used for both withdrawals and lodgements and will ‘recycle’ cash (i.e. cash deposited can be used for withdrawals). This maximises ATM availability, supporting customers with better access to cash when they need it. To support visually impaired customers, the new devices will have high-contrast screens and the option of plugging into an earphone socket so the user can be guided through their transaction by voice assistance.

The move to a new property in Monaghan town, which Bank of Ireland aims to complete by the end of the 2025, is part of the Bank’s nationwide branch improvement programme, highlighted by a landmark investment of more than €60 million in a range of branch improvements, including the Bank’s largest single investment in ATMs in the last decade.

Alan Durcan, Director of Distribution Channels, Bank of Ireland said: “Providing our customers with a best-in-class branch experience is a vital part of our offering as a full-service retail bank, and I’m delighted that we can relocate our Monaghan town branch nearby to a more modern and accessible location. Customers visiting the new location will be able to fulfil all their banking needs, whilst also availing of our new ATMs, which have greater cash processing capacity and additional accessibility features.”
