What is a digital wallet?

A digital wallet simply holds digital versions of your debit and personal credit cards on your smart device, such as a smartphone or tablet. As with contactless card payments, you can make purchases in a shop by holding your smart phone over a compatible card reader (point of sale machine). You can also use a digital wallet app while shopping on your device.

You can now use Google Pay to add your Bank of Ireland debit and personal credit cards to your smart devices.
