How do I close my Credit Card account?

You can close your Credit Card account using 365 online, phone Credit Card Services, or Post a letter to your branch. See below the steps to take for your preferred method.

  • 365 Online
    1. Cancel all recurring payments you have with retailers directly (subscriptions and direct debits)
    2. Make any final payments to the account which covers:
      • Any outstanding balance on your card
      • the next Government Stamp duty* of €30
    3. Check account balance has updated to reflect payments above (24-48hrs of bill payment)
    4. Log into 365 online to submit a request to close your account using Ask a Question

    If your account is in credit greater than €30 at time of closure we will credit the account from which the direct debit is paid.

  • Phone Credit Card Services
    1. Cancel all recurring payments you have with retailers directly (subscriptions and direct debits)
    2. Make any final payments to the account which covers:
      • Any outstanding balance on your card
      • the next Government Stamp duty* of €30
    3. Call our Credit Card Services team on 0818 251 251 (+353 5677 57747 if outside Republic of Ireland)

    If your account is in credit greater than €30 at time of closure we will credit the account from which the direct debit is paid.

  • Post Letter to Branch
    1. Cancel all recurring payments you have with retailers directly (subscriptions and direct debits)
    2. Make any final payments to the account which covers:
      • Any outstanding balance on your card
      • the next Government Stamp duty* of €30
    3. You can post or drop a letter to your branch with instructions to close your Credit Card account including:
      • Your Name and Address
      • the Full Credit Card number (long 16 digit number on your card)
      • A contact number if we need to contact you regarding your request

    If your account is in credit greater than €30 at time of closure we will credit the account from which the direct debit is paid.

*Government stamp duty is a Government tax.

From 2024, we will be required to collect GSD in January instead of April.

This means that on 1 January 2024, a reduced amount of €22.50 will be charged to your account for the shorter period from April 2023 to December 2023. From 1 January 2025, the charge will revert to €30 each year.
