Set up online banking on your devices
To use online banking you will need to register for this service to receive log in details for your online account. To register click here
Your mobile phone number must be registered to receive security codes by text to set up the Bank of Ireland app. To update or register your number click here.
You can set up 5 smart devices (smartphone or tablet) as a security device for each online account. To manage your security devices click here.
The Bank of Ireland app is available on a wide range of smartphones using Android or iOS (iPhone). Unsupported devices can be found here
Step one: Download the app
- If you use the old Mobile Banking app, and have allowed automatic updates, the app will download to your smartphone when available: alternatively
- Open the app store on your smart phone and search 'Bank of Ireland app'
Step two: Enter your details
- Enter your User ID, Date of birth and existing 365 PIN.
Allow services you want to use, notification or location services
Step three: activate your device
On your registered number you will receive a text message containing an activation code.
- If you are activating the same smartphone on which you received the text message you should copy the code into this field
- If activating another smartphone or 2nd device you will need to type the number into the device you are setting up.
Give your smartphone a nickname.
You can now log into your new device using 365 online 6-number PIN. We will only ever ask for 3 digits of your PIN. Never share your PIN with anyone including us.
The Bank of Ireland app is available on a wide range of tablets using Android or iOS (iPhone). The tablet should be able to connect to the internet using Wi-Fi or SIM card. Unsupported devices can be found here

- If you use the old Tablet Banking app, you will need to uninstall this app
- Open the app store on your tablet and search 'Bank of Ireland app'
Step two: Enter your details
- Enter your User ID, Date of birth and existing 365 PIN.
Allow services you want to use, notification or location services
Step three: activate your device
On your registered number you will receive a text message containing an activation code.
- You will need to type the number into the tablet device you are setting up.
- If you have a SIM card in your tablet on which you receive text messages you can copy this code
Give your tablet a nickname.
You can now log into your new device using 365 online 6-number PIN
There is no set up process for desktop or laptops. You can access online banking using an internet browser* by visiting 365 online.
You will need a security device each time you log into the 365 online site using
- Smartphone or tablet on which you have set up the Bank of Ireland app. Follow steps under Smartphone or Tablet
- Physical security device – a security device we can issue to you which is unique to you.
